The objective of this Equality and Diversity course is to enhance individuals comprehension of Equality and Diversity issues. The course will expand your understanding and familiarity with the legislation on Equality and Diversity. You will also learn about the six Diversity strands incorporated within the Commission for Equality and Human Rights (CEHR), enabling you to address these matters competently and confidently in the workplace.

In addition, learners will reflect on their responsibility in promoting Equality and Diversity, analyse the fundamental principles involved, and identify strategies and methods to instil a culture of Diversity, Inclusion, and fairness within their organisation."

Content includes:

  • Understanding diversity: Learn about different cultures, beliefs, and identities, and the importance of respecting and valuing differences.
  • Discrimination and its impact: Different forms of discrimination, such as racism, sexism, and ageism, and how discrimination can impact individuals and society.
  • Inclusive practice: Explore strategies and techniques for promoting diversity and inclusion, such as creating inclusive policies and practices, promoting diversity in recruitment and selection, and ensuring accessibility for all.
  • Equality and the law: An overview of relevant legislation and policies, such as the Equality Act 2010, and the responsibilities of employers, educators, and service providers to promote equality.
  • Challenging discrimination: Learn about ways to identify and challenge discrimination, such as addressing biases and stereotypes, using inclusive language, and promoting a culture of respect and openness.
  • Cultural competence: Develop the skills and knowledge needed to work effectively with people from different cultures and backgrounds, and promoting cultural awareness and sensitivity.
