Enhance performance and develop skills to lead a team.

Our ‘Aspire – Leadership and Team Skills’ programme is for inpost, new or aspiring team leaders, helping them to further develop their skills to become more effective and confident in their role.

The two-month programme consists of

  • 3 classroom workshops
  • ILM Registration, two assignments, and certification
  • ILM Studying membership.
  • Comprehensive learning materials

This highly interactive programme is designed to increase performance and develop core skills to enable them to become highly effective Team Leaders.

Team leaders will learn how to create a positive team culture, set clear expectations, and provide effective feedback.

At the end of this programme they will be able to:

  • Identify leadership styles to increase team performance
  • Build better relationships and communicate confidently
  • Recognise and rectify underperformance
  • Overcome conflict in teams

Working alongside people from other businesses, participants will have an opportunity to share experiences, practice new skills, receive feedback and create personal development plans

Your Induction to your ILM Level 2

The induction session sets the stage for a successful and interactive learning experience. Participants will be introduced to the course objectives, structure and expectations and will receive information about the course scheduled, including important dates, and assessment information. They will also be informed about the resources available to support their journey. 

Module 1 - Developing yourself as a Team Leader

Develop knowledge and understanding of the role and responsibilities of a team leader and be able to improve their personal performance.

Objectives

  • Explore and understand the various roles, functions and responsibilities of a Team Leader, the limits of authority and accountability and how these are defined.
  • Be able to use reflective learning skills to improve performance and identify areas of strength and improvement.
  • Identify their personal ‘behavioural style’ and how this may, indirectly and directly impact communication and relationship building within the organisation.
  • Recognise the importance of gaining feedback about their team leading abiltiies and developing skills to identify own personal skills and abilities for effective team leading.
  • Explain the different Learning Styles and how to use these to get the best out of individuals within their team.

Module 2 - Leading, motivating and managing team performance

Develop leadership abilities to motivate and manage teams to produce excellent results.

Objectives

  • Explore and understand the difference between leadership and management and be able to explain why leadership is important within their own team.
  • Explore the meaning of motivation and consider various theories and models to enable them to motivate teams and peers.
  • Setting performance standards and being able to recognise below and above standard performance
  • Recognising how to give and receive constructive feedback that can inform and motivate
  • Setting SMART goals that support their team and the individuals within their team to maximise their potential.

Module 3 - Communication and conflict resolution


Understand the importance of effective communication and develop skills to manage conflict in the workplace.

Objectives

  • Explain the importance of effective communication, within the workplace and in everyday life
  • Recognise and demonstrate methods of communication that are clear, concise, and considerate to other people
  • Consider their own communication style and the styles of others and any areas for development
  • Explain the importance of using a range of techniques to improve their communication within the workplace.
  • Explore methods for conflict management in the workplace, that may have resulted in poor communication and steps to take to improve the situation
